Body long cylindrical, depth of body rather greater than width of body and caudal peduncle comparatively deep; head small and depressed; mouth small, deeply arch and without rostral groove and fold in front of mouth; lips thick, well-developed and with papilla on lower lip; groove behind lip united; rostral barbells 2 pairs in anterior edge of upper lip, minute and maxillary barbells 1 pair; gill openings large and reaching belly of head; interorbital space wide and flat; lateral line scales 68—73. Origin of dorsal fin situated in middle of body; pectoral fin wide and long; pelvic fin not forming sucker shape and caudal fins with stripes composed of black spots

The fish lives in streams of clear water and is often found in the small tributaries of mountain brooks, especially in mountain brooks with fountains. It lives on algae. It is small and will be mature sexually when 30mm long
